[ I fought the law ]
Jack walked down the narrow alley, trying to ignore a rather annoying leper who was happily trying to get his shoe. He was swaggering, even though he really shouldn't be. His black shoes left imprints in the general mess on the floor, rats scuttling over them at times. He was swaying like a drunk, mainly because he was one. He stepped on a fairly stupid rat, the crunching noise unpleasant. Crouching down at the feet of a begging leper, he began to chat with him. His hand crept slowly closer and closer towards the hat with coins in it he had left there, until he snatched it. With a shriek, the man launched himself at Jack. Running for it, laughing like a jackal, he escaped the stumbling leper easily. Sitting down and counting the coins, he smiled. Bloody lepers got small fortunes from sitting there and being ill! Pocketing the money, he sat and talked to himself quietly, picking up a rat and poking it, laughing. [/center]

"Do you always steal from lepers, or just when your drunk?" inquired an amused voice from above him. Dropping down from the roof tops, a shadowy cloaked figure landed squarely in front of him. Her lips, the only part of her face that wasn't concealed by her black hood, widened in a smirk. Gwen fingered the hilt of her hidden dagger, just in case the stranger wasn't so friendly. She kicked a rat to the side, as it scampered over her boot. Looking back at the man, she retorted, "It really isn't very kind of you to steal from people poorer than you, if there is any." Gwen's green eyes flashed with mischief. She meant not to be rude, but she couldn't help it. She looked him over. By his appearance, and the scene that she had just witnessed, she judged him to be a thief like herself. Gwen frowned thoughtfully, thinking. She dared not introduce herself... not yet anyways. She had learned the hard way long ago never to put her trust in strangers....

[ Mistakes, I've made a few ]
He smiled slightly, thinking over the question.
[Well, it depends really. Because, you see, I'm pretty much exactly the same drunk as I am any other time- mainly because there is rarely and other time]
He let go of the rat, which squeaked and stopped, looking at him with beady eyes. He kicked out at it with the end of his shoe and it seemed to get he message finally, leaving.

Gwen peered at him curiosly. He seemed dangerously out of his wits, especially not even taking out a weapon when a stranger confronted him in a dark ally....
Sighing, she replied, "A regular drunk, then? Hmmm..." She thought for a moment. How was he ever able to outrun the guards if he was constantly swooning and swaggering? Puzzled, Gwen tapped her boot lightly to the ground. She twisted a lock of hair around her finger absentmindedly. Suddenly a thought crossed her mind. She had just seen him pocket the money, and he was drunk, perhaps....
Gwen shook her head, disgusted with herself. Thieves did not steal from other thieves, at least that was what she had grown up believing.
