He took his hands away from her shoulders and stepped back. From his cupped hands a ball of light appeared, shimmering red. He stopped there and closed his eyes. When he opened them again he looked into her lifeless pools.
Like this. When he spoke his voice had grown dark, deeper, almost evil sounding. His eyes had shifted from grey to black, the power suring through him. He hadn't used it in so long, it almost hurt to use so little of it. Under his breath and almost inaudible he mumbled words to give the glowing crimson ball a purpose. Enter her, enter this girl and give her the power to see when she needs it most. To see the beauty around her. To see through the darkness that binds her. His voice had grown louder, gradually, it was still just above a whisper though. Suddenly, he spoke normally. To see.
The light moved to Anatia. To her chest, then it dissappeared inside of her. It's crimson glow devoured by her. He stood and waited to see if it had worked. It would work for the next day or two, then it would be useless for about three days. Thecycle would continue, every three days she would see for two, then be plunged into darkness again for the next three days.

His aura brightened...with that crimson red she had remembered. A thought struck her. Should she trust him? It was too late now. She heard his words...demonic tones deep and haunting. It was the spell. She stood still. One hand clasped her darkened jewel with a hard force, as though she was afraid to drop it. She listened carefully to his words, each molding into her brain...each had meaning. And when he reached the last one, her eyes widened, as though by an unknown force. She felt his power absorb into her chest, still trying to find it's way to her unseeing orbs. Twisting about her heart and other essential organs. She let go of her jewel now, as it fell loosely back down to her chest. She recognized this power somehow...and noticed too late, the consequence that she had known it to form. It hit her eyes. She gasped. Her heart slowed, but remained able to support her. Her knees buckled, and she fell to the ground. Her hands covered her eyes, as she felt the burning sensations run through her. Her world became red. The same thing that had happened to cause her blindness...though it wasn't Loki's fault, but her own. A soft moan escaped her lips, as she curled onto the floor. An unusually deep blood began to seep from in between each finger, the source: her eyes. It was nearly black. It slowly began drip on the floor...each portion of her precious life..wasting away...one by one. Her face was twisted with pain, as every muscle in her body tensed. Her hearing strained to hear a taunting maniac voice echo through the chamber, perhaps only in her mind, perhaps in reality. But she heard it. "Aw, love, you'll see that the spell will never dissipate, for it is much too complex...even if you can see again, I will be back. Just as I promised." No...the voice was too familiar to her...the savage one. The mad sorcerer. The reason she wasn't able to see. Her pendant gave an eerie glow, unknown to her. "No.." She breathed out. "You will never come back!" She yelled in return, her voice harsh and cold. Each one piercing the air. What was she saying? She was loosing control. She tore her hands from her face, revealing her bloodstained cheeks and eye lids, for her orbs were out of sight under their blanket of bloody skin. Her slender fingers wrapped around her pendant, as it glowed red once again. Brighter every moment. Until a bolt lashed out at her eyes. The room became silent, eerily so. And she felt her orbs rebuild..peicing back together slowly. The bolt receded, yet soon after, another trail of crimson followed, immediately following the other back into the glinting jewel. Had it...worked? She dropped the pendant back down to her chest, then took back to her eyes. they sempt sewn shut with a layer of now dried blood. And for the first time, a genuine pearled tear rolled out. And her lids slowly opened. Light burst in through them...light? Yes, light! She could see! She slowly stood up, eyes still only cracked slightly. And leisurely, they peeled open. Still slightly unable to see from the new adjustments of the light. And then it cleared out. And before her, looking slightly surprised, was Loki. The one who had granted her dreams. He was...amazing. He was the first thing she had laid sight upon in so many years. But what she hadn't known yet, was her eyes. They were different. For now, instead of her haunting white, it was replaced with a pure ivy green. They stood out against the blood that still stained her face. They sparkled in the new found light, as a smile creased her lips. She was indeed, speechless. Motionless for that matter. Yet, her eyes were only fixed on Loki himself, not wanting to look away, as though if she did, she wouldn't be able to see. Though, even as she took in the first views of life, a voice in the back of her mind seemed to taunt her, as if wanting her to fear and hide from it. It was threatening and cold. It told her she was cursed, forever. But she ignored it. For it did not matter...not now...

Loki watched, almost in horror. He had done this particular spell only once before, and it had almost worked. He feared he had made a mistake and stood recounting his words and the steps he had taken. All correct. When her eyes opened and she smiled a wave of relief washed through him. It had worked. He did it. Why the hell did he do it? He didn't know, it didn't matter. He stared into her ivy green pools, so different from the white. They fit with the rest of her so well. So beautiful. So perfect. His eyes had returned to a steel grey from the black. He was glad she hadn't been able to see that. Most were afraid of it. Smiling he went and took her in his arms, carefully so as not to hurt her or scare her. But he was so d**n happy he had done it that he couldn't help himself.
I told you.
He spoke in a whisper, they were, afterall, in a library.

It was then she realized she was finally starting to live. Had she been dead those many years? Perhaps her heart and soul was. Her past memories began to fade away at this moment, her life taking on another turn. Would this one lead to the light?...maybe. But none could fortell a future. Even for that matter, one is not to dwell on the past, but remain focused on the present. For live life as it comes, and accept any fate you fall upon. No matter how bad it is. And she would. It was a new feeling...her sight and how broad it made her other senses feel. It was renewal. How long she had been locked away in a restricted cage, now finally free to the world. Finally.
She felt his embrace upon her, as her emerald eyes flickered with complete joy with her new found sense. Tears threatened to fall away at this moment, but she contained them. Had she ever been happier in her life? No, no, she hadn't. Because before, she never had a life. Her arms wrapped around his form in return, a smile still remained upon her lips. Her heart danced with her chest, as so many new sensations shot throughout her mind. How lucky was she to run across Loki, completely unexpected on such a day. For if she never would've met him, she'd be forever blind. Forever dead.
"Thank you....so much..."
Her voice was quieter than a whisper, as though you had to read her lips. Maybe nothing was coming out, but she knew he heard her. 'Thank you' was not even suitable to tell him how happy she was. No even close. Her new gaze fell upon her arm, ripe skin beautiful and lush met her eyes...was that...her own? Indeed...it was. It was different since the last time her eyes had laid sight upon it. Yet, that was when she was a child. She wondered what the world was like now, what lies out in the mass that she had only seen as darkness. Was it beautiful? Or horrific now? She knew of a palace nearby, heard about it at least, never seen it. It was known for it's elegancy, how many grand balls were held in it's chamber, of the royalty that resided within. One day, she wished to see it. But for now, she was happy enough in his arms, gladness too overwhelming for her. She never wanted to close her eyes again. But knew, this sight was limited, for a curse lives on inside. But she didn't care if she was just to see for one day, just as long as she could see now. In the present.

While they stood, entwined in eachothers embrace, a thought flitted through Loki's mind and his smile faded. "Leave the library, or wander through it. One or the other. Show her things, why should she stay staring at me? I'm nothing to look at." A smile slowly spread across his face again.
Let's go, let's go wander through the land, or even through the library. You should see, see all of it. Look around you, it's beautiful. (OOC- grrr...short post. XD I hate short posts. lol))

Her emerald gaze fell into that of his own, as though she were being pulled into it. His steel like orbs were an object of fascination for her, for never before had she fallen upon such a pigment. As he spoke, her pulse increased, realizing, there was more out there. More to this world. Somthing inside her had triggered...she wanted to explore. Yes...just to see the world as she never had before. Limited was she before this, now, limitless , at least not for today. The world beckoned her to seek out it's mysteries...to go where none have ever ventured. To voyage in quest of it's beauty that had been isolated away from humanity since time had been born. It was like a birds first flight, wings outstretched, just waiting for the current to come and pick it up and glide throughout the neverending haze of blue. But was it possible to her? Could she accomplish theses dreams - that none have ever completed before? Maybe...but in her path, stood many barriers. Of mind and body, of nature and humanity. Could she break through them or avert them? She quickly dodged the thoughts as she looked over her shoulder towards the expanse of books. Each one held so much literature within its binding, each word signifigant to the human cause alike. But is this where she wanted to go? No-the world awaited her, it called her name...just out those wooden doors she would step, and fall into another world.
"I will go...I wish to see what I've missed."
She replied softly, as she looked back up to him. She wanted to run, free of the cage that had once contained her, free of the chains that bound her to nowhere. She wanted to see it all...

His steel grey eyes looked up and away, over his shoulder. Only now did he realize how long he had been out in the open. He had stood here, talking to a girl. What had gotten into him? The only thing he had ever done with a woman was watch her from the shadows, wishing he could have her. He had never stepped out into the open. Never. He hadn't ever intended to either. But, yet again, as everything in him told him to leave her -retreat to the shadows as before- he felt drawn to her, as if he could not let her go by threat of death. But he had to, he had to let her go to wander the streets and see the beauty and the horror. But what horror would she see? Those that see only the good in people missed the squalor others lived in. He, himself, had no home. He lived on the streets. Where else was there? But she, she saw the good in people. She must, she must be one of those that miss the evil. Loki was full of evil. A well renowned thief, some knew him as a murderer (even though he'd only really murdered one person, the rest had been more of an accidental death caused by him). For a moment he felt like letting her go and hiding in the shadows. He didn't want to be known, lest he be found by those who looked for him. He didn't think they would follow him here though. But it was entirely possible.
You may go alone, if you like. Unless you want me to come.
His words had been emotionless, yet there was an edge to them. Like something inside him, the gears that made him tick, needed oiling. He dropped his arms to his sides and stepped back a foot. He watched her, to see what she would do. He so longed to retreat to the shadows. He looked away from her, towards the door, then back at her. She was beautiful. So full of life. He hadn't seen it in so long. Not since...
Flash... Darkness. Cold. Damp. Dank. Jail cell. Slop being pushed under the grate by a heavy man in a smallish suit. The smell of decay, rotting things, sweat, grime, dirt, grease. A man in the cell to the left, dead. A woman in the cell to the right, alive. He crawled to her, being only a boy of eight. She taught him everything. She had been so full of life. Never giving up on the thought of freedom. Freedom from the physical cage she was in, freedom from the mental cage of being a woman. She had so longed to be a knight. But they wouldn't allow it. Woman. Screaming. Agony. Pain. The woman, burning red and yellow flames licked at her bosom. His own clothes smoking, ready to be consumed by the fire. Plunged into darkness. Water. The fire was gone, he had been thrown from the ship. The cargo ship had transported the prisoners to a second island. He swam, and swam. Until he could swim no longer. A family on a small boat plucked him out of the water like a fish. Back...
As before, he put his hand on the bookcase for support. Only this time the bookcase was not enough. A chair sat behind him. He slouched into it and put his head in his hands. The flashbacks were coming more often, more detailed, than before. They had come twice while talking to Anatia. He looked up at her and tried a half-hearted grin. It failed miserably and he knew it. He gave up and just watched her. What would she do? What would her reaction be to him? He didn't know, but he had a feeling he was about to find out. --OOC: HA! That's better. That's a good long one. I feel better now. lol.--

As she looked back to him, she saw something that hadn't been obvious to her earlier. It was something that she easily recognized...seen before. Known it. Though it had been mixed with other feelings...some in which sent sensations up and down her spine. Bad ones. Her smile gradually faded, realizing, exactly what it was. It was desire...it was mixed with that evil of shadows. Indeed...he was a savage. A thief. Crook. Murderer. But...why had he helped her? Why hadn't he killed her? Stolen her money or something. Her brow arched in contemplation. What...was he? Her hand leisurely reached for her forearm, as it latched on, fingers wrapping around tightly. She didn't know why she had done it, it just felt natural sometimes. The shadows seemed to seep in to the library, growing every moment, threatening to devour their forms. But as for Loki, she could easily tell his desire to just slip into them again. It was how he looked at them longingly...wanting somewhat.
She watched as he fell into his thoughts once more, the odd silence overwhelming, but she didn't care. She knew well of the evil that thrived about her in the world. She felt them. It was that evil wizard that had made her blind! But she remembered...had she been purely afraid of him? Or afraid for her life? The fear of her survival, not the evil within him. She fingered her jewel, reaching about every crease that she could feel. It was different than others...she still had no recall of how she escaped the wizard. Just how she could feel the power that radiated from it...it did something. It gave her unclassified variations of thought, of anything. Unknown it had remained strung around her neck.
A glowing light behind her guided her attention away from the current situation. It was a soft light, amber in color. She spun around, finding a small man lighting a oil lamp that was perched upon the wall. Glass surrounded the tiny flame, magnifying it, as well as reassuring that it did not fall. It'd be disastrous to have all the books burn in flames. The man looked at her sheepishly, before skittering off into the shadows. A slam was heard in the distance, the loud closing of a door. She sighed. Some people on this world were indeed odd, she thought, remembering how scrawny he had appeared, and then quickly left. She shook her head slightly at the display.
Her gaze landed back on Loki, remembering her previous thoughts. It was hard to determine now... It was then that she recalled something. Perhaps his aura could tell her more. That is, if she could still see them. Her eyes shut lightly, as she looked forward. She concentrated hard, trying to find the energy patterns. Then she saw it begin to take form before her, where Loki was. She focused harder. It was a pool of that darkened haze. Shadows. They seemed to gather where his heart was placed as well as his mind. She knew. Was this...true? Her eyes opened then, looking on at him at once more. Now, she could feel who he was...it was radiating from his form. Her expression stood still as he eased into a chair. She watched as he tried to smile, but failed. It was obvious. Her expression still stood calm, motionless it remained. She neither blinked, nor fidgeted. She trusted him. Why? She didn't know. She completely trusted him with her life. Could that be a mistake? No. Not at all. She also trusted herself.
"Only if you wish to come along with me."
A twinge of loneliness rung in her voice. No, she had never had a longer conversation with someone else in years. She wanted him to come with her at least for the beginning of her journey at least. She didn't think that he'd want to be near her for too long. She sighed. She didn't care of his name, who or what he was or did. Not at all. And with that, the light within her eyes flickered, became brighter, slightly standing out above the rest of her features. For sometimes, the eyes were the gateway to the inner emotions.

He breathed deep, still trying to clear his head from his memory. They assaulted him now, unable to put a stop to them he tried ignoring them. He shook his head and stood again, this time his smile did not fail, though it wasn't real. There was no emotion behind it. He couldn't understand why, nor did he understand what had made him so callous all of a sudden. He feared speaking to her. If he said something stupid or cruel she would turn away, and for some reason this almost crippled him into sitting again. He couldn't let her go alone, he wouldn't. Whether she knew it or not he would go with her. But she wanted him to come. So he would.
OK, let's both go then. Where to first?
His words, unlike his smile, had emotion. He silently thanked God. They held an eagerness, not really for him to see so much as to show her. He wanted her to see, he and all of the other stupid morons in this land took sight for granted. She appreciated it. Maybe that was why he had helped her. But still, this made no sense. He had seen plenty of people that deserved help and would have appreciated it the way she did. He never helped them, no he had spat on them. Some of them had followed him, begging and pleading, and he had turned and unleashed his power upon them. The anger causing them to grow immensely, only meaning to throw them backwards and away from him. They flew and flew, up and away. They flew into the night, and were later found by farmers in the country land plowing their fields, dead. They had all died. Stupid fools. People had started to fear him, giving him a gift whenever he shot them an angry look. Some started to condemn him, then they had all condemned him. He had retreated to the shadows, and stayed there. That was his life. So stupid and pathetic. He had been through hell and back and still he took things for granted. Wow, he was special huh? Oh well. Anatia seemed to generally like him. She would, too, until she knew his past. That's for another day though.

She looked down at her form, examining her attire. The dress she wore she had purchased from somebody in the market. She had only needed it for newer clothing. She felt it, but never saw it. And it seemed as though it was threaded perfectly to fit her. It appeared somewhat of a different hue, one she had never seen before. But she liked it even so. It hung low on her shoulders, leaving that part of skin to be exsposed. It lay tight against her waist, but fell neatly down to her legs, giving her slimmed body shape. She looked back up to him and smiled genuinely. She then averted her gaze to the side in thought, she fell. What was this land like anyway? To her, it had been nothing but darkness. She knew of lakes and streams, but as to their location now, was unknown to her. In fact, the world was unknown. But she was ready to see it now. The good, bad, evil, kind, beautiful, savage world. How the goods evened out the bads, how amazing it was to anyones eyes. They may not notice it, but she did. He had given her such accurate vision, perfect in fact. Life was more detailed, and hadn't need to strain to see just slightly.
Her index finger traced her lips in thought. Somewhat trance like, as though mindless she was, but in fact, her mind was complex. She had so many thoughts. Because when your blind, thats all you can do. Think. The only way to occupy yourself. She never saw any beautiful sights, but pictured them in her mind. Dreams of the world every day. Every night. And it increased her minds abilities. Her capacity to think had grown, in fact, she still relied on it, although her sight sempt to cover it up and shadow half of it. But she'd never allow it to drown in the new sense. Because it was important to her, somthing she cherished. Probably the only thing she had to cherish when she lived in the dark. But sight- was truly her dreams come true. The only thoughts she had thrived on when she could not see. She was hopeful then. She was also very lost. Because nobody could see in the dark--and nobody could navigate through it. It was a neverending maze the world had sempt to her. Sometimes, she wished those who pushed her aside, and boasted how superior they were to her, were blind. She wanted them to live in the dark like she had for so many years! How they would live, if they were blind, and lost in that darkened haze. She'd like to hear them boast about that. Because as she grew, there was nothing for her to be proud of. She lost everything that had meant somthing to her. And for awhile, she fell into a state of depression. But still, she never gave up hope. It was such a slight spark that she lived with, but grew brighter as her days increased, hoping one day, she have a fire. And today, it had caught flame.
She then settled on the current present, remembering the question he had asked. She sighed. She didn't know where she wanted to go. She didn't know what was out there.
"I truly don't know. Perhaps there is a place that you hold favor to?"
She countered softly, as her hands stood still to her sides. Perhaps he'd know where the land went, and where he liked to go. There must've been a place where he preferred, because herself, held no destination in mind. Because she knew of no where. No location for that matter.

He watched her as she fell into her own thoughts again. He stood, patiently waiting, looking around at the things he hadn't really seen before. Books. He had never really liked books. But then again, he hadn't ever been taught to read. He had taught himself to understand the names on the signs. He understood that BAR meant he could go in and get drunk with some random people. Probably have a blast till he let one of his many secrets spill. Dumb mistakes. They passed. His attention focused on her again. He watched her trace her lips in thought, his mind raced with things he could do to her. He looked down and away from her. He knew it wouldn't happen. He hadn't ever really thought about it with her until just now. Odd. When she had traced her luscious lips with her finger he had really looked at them and saw just how beautiful they were and how much he wanted to touch them with his own. Her words brought him out of the trance he had put himself in. She didn't have a preference. Well, hell, neither did he!
Umm, well. I haven't really been anywhere other than, well, here. I heard that there was a palace somewhere up North-ish. It's supposed to be made mostly of gold and marble and such. How about we start there?
Even as he spoke of the gold and marble his mind raced to the fact that there was probably many pocket-sized trinkets that wouldn't be missed in such a big place. He silently reprimanded himself, but knew that if the opportunity arose, he would take it. Bad or good. He'd take it. He was that kind of a person. It was natural to him to steal. They wouldn't miss it...would they?

As he spoke, her mind raced. Thoughts of beyond began to fill her head, so many were there! A palace? Indeed...she had heard of it as well. Never saw it, nor knew of it's location. Luckily, he had an idea of where it might be placed. She, of course, did not. A smile was placed upon her lips, as she thought in wonder of such a glorious place. Perhaps it was naive to think like this...to be excited over something so many had known of, but had not made a big deal of it. But she couldn't throw it all away, because it was the truth. She had only been able to picture it in her mind. Now, she'd be able to see it in her new reality. Right now, was like a new page, just awaiting the words and story to be written down and inscribed upon the sheets. Another chapter in her pitiful life. And she held the pen to write such down. Though she knew that when she had passed, her story would be forgotten. Thrown aside, and tossed away with her body. She would have no legacy nor legend. For she dwelled this world with silent steps, unknown to any.
"Sounds amazing."
She replied, soft lips parting in way of her words. But as she looked around she thought about something, a question, in fact. Which way was North? But she quickly shook it off remembering that Loki must know.
Her gaze tilted towards the ceiling of the grand room, books perched on shelves in impossible to reach spots. She silently wondered how any could reach them. But then spotted a ladder, and it became clear. Books were an amazement to her. How such a small story, could leave an impact on your mind and life. Well, at least for her it did. Because when she was young, she read the stories and never forgot them. And often, they'd replay back to her in her mind. Childish fantasies and fairly tales that were written by others. Sometimes, she had made her own up. So young she was then, nearing an age of only 9. That was just before she lost her sight. She could never read again. And now that she could see, she feared she had lost her touch with readings. She sighed. Such turbulence life had hit her with.
It was a simple question she had always asked herself; why am I still alive? Maybe that question was being answered now. For in a world where you need so much to rely on every sense, she was missing the the most important - vision. How can you still thrive when you can not see the world around you? Where you step, where you are and even who you are. Why live when you can't see anything but black? Why had she hung on? Maybe it was a gut feeling to stay, but she was glad she did. Because it was now where she got that question answered. She still lived to prove the world wrong. To live without sight of anything near nor far. So many had tried to kill her, so many said that she was destined to be dead. Lost cause was she. But now, she was proving them wrong. For now, after those years she had lived without light, it was finally coming back to her. The first beams opening up. It was life again. Her memories washed away by the new ones, but she still vaguely recalled some things from then...the attempted suicides every day...the ones who constantly hated her...the ones who pushed her down. She still knew every voice clearly. How the one day, a man told her she was useless, and held his blade to her throat. How she drew her own knife and slit his. She didn't know if he had died or not, all she remembered was that she ran for hours trying to get away from anywhere near there. But now, the torment and pain was fading away, stripped dead by the light that was shed upon it.

Loki stood looking at her, almost dumbly. The palace sounded like a wonderful place to be. They really should go there. Then it struck him like a mallet on the head. He had to take her there. She had no idea where to go, he had to show her. Hell, he had to figure it out himself. They'd get there, and on the way they would see many things. He smiled at her and placed his hand gently on the small of her back. Pushing only a little he moved her toward the doors. When he pushed the door open the night air came pouring through. He looked up at the night sky, his eyes adapting immediately to the darkness. He was used to the dark, he had lived in it for so long. It made him feel at ease to move through the land at night, with the cover of darkness. Instinctively he reached back and put the hood on his cloak up. He had done this always, to hide himself. He became more invisible than before. He found nothing odd about this action. She might though.

It shot to her senses like mad, tearing throughout her mind. She continued her steady walk, but was speechless. The nightly world. Wondrous. She felt herself fall from reality, and into her thoughts. Her eyes sempt too small to capture everything, as they dodged frenzily over the sky. It was somewhat of a chilling night to her, as her arms aimlessly folded around her bare shoulders. Thoughtlessly, She scanned the horizon finding everything. The stars....there were so many. Small white dots randomly strewn throughout the dark atmosphere. At least, she thought they were stars. She felt her bottom lip run slack, but she barely took notice to it. She hadn’t seen in years, and since then, she had forgotten what the night sky looked like. Then her orbs fell upon the moon. So many tales were told about it, so many myths and legends. It was hued with an striking blue, and it's image seemed to dance in her eyes. Had it always been there? Well, of course she didn't know. The shadows leaked into the streets, darkened liquid flooding the walk. Her eyes had little adjusting to the light, as the only illumination fell from the vast sky above. She was right. She was missing the world. The beauty. But yet she knew those who lurked in the shadows...the distinct creatures, tainted with evil were most.
She sempt to blend into the shadows, her dress fading away from the lack of light. They loomed over her at some points, threatening to devour her. Some did, but as she walked, she quickly escaped. The night held many mysteries, some solved, but most not. The world turned away from the sun, most warmth trying to escape and perish, causing most nights to become much colder than the day. But that was not what she paid attention to. Anatia looked down to the ground, watching as the walk came closer, but soon her steady light pace covered it, and it passed. But the ground was nothing to look at. Her gaze directed forwards, seeing as they approached a forest in the far distance. She then quickly looked up at Loki, watching as he hid his face with a hood. He seemed like one of the shadows, blending perfectly. She was afraid of him falling victim to them so that she couldn’t see him any longer. She feared that.
